Hidden Above

The central theme for the “Space” aspect of this MA brief, entitled Hidden Above, arose from preliminary research conducted using Google Maps. I was looking for secreted areas in Leeds city centre I had yet to explore and photograph; a relative challenge considering the fact that I’ve been making such excursions in the area for nearly ten years. A “flâneur” type approach at this stage would simply lead me back down well-trodden paths, so I opted for a more premeditated infiltration. Viewing the city from above, I had a realisation; a large percentage of Leeds’s outdoor surface area had gone unexplored – the rooftops.

Some of the sites were revisited three years later and rephotographed.
